Meet Sherrie
I am Sherrie Garner. I want to introduce my weight loss success story and express my interest in “Choosn’”. I am proud to share that I have successfully lost 150 pounds in 8 months with diet and exercise. My journey of weight loss was certainly a choice to get healthy and now it is my continued journey to maintain my weight loss and hopefully share a motivating story.
Today, I am fortunate to be an educator. I am a school counselor. For my entire professional career as a health care provider, teacher, and counselor I have cared for others. It was at age 36 when I began my, I’ve totally lost it Story, that I realized that taking care of myself as my first priority allowed me a greater concentration on caring for others. Truly taking better care of my own health afforded me the best connection to care for others. Today, I hope to share in this belief with other professionals to allow for one’s own optimum health.
One of the greatest milestones was truly admitting I was obese; in return my story is about beating obesity. My attempt and success of totally losing 150 pounds was not my first effort at losing weight. I recall at age 14 my weight began to get out of control. I followed numerous programs and was mildly active prior to my big leap to a new me. In order to combat an obese weight and life style, I created a whole new recipe. My recipe consisted of medical consultation, a healthy diet, an exercise program and a support system. The greatest difference in my mind was relying on what I knew was the most important, and that was me. I knew I had to take control of my own health, rather than gamble with the health risks of being obese.
Along with the support of “Choosn’” network/staff I hope to create a dialogue to share in each other’s journey of connecting to a healthier you. It is an honor to be introduced and communicate with an audience through “Choosn’.” I willingly bring my story to this audience and understand I have made the choice to share in this forum.
