Former President Bill Clinton has warned that childhood obesity is playing havoc with America's future. Speaking at the National School Boards Association at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, Clinton said obesity could destroy the health care system.
He said students must eat healthy foods and get maximum physical activity in order to stay healthy. "We are playing Russian roulette with our kids future," Clinton said “I was overweight as a kid. I get that."
Clinton said some of the blame for childhood obesity must be taken by states as well as fast food companies that are taking shortcuts and not making healthy foods a priority. "States spend $75 billion a year on obesity-related health care," he said. "California spends $8 billion. Imagine what we could do in schools with $75 billion."
