Tennessee Hands Out Grants To Fight Childhood Obesity

(AP) NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Department of Education has handed out $12.3 million in grants to local school districts to help with programs aimed at fighting childhood obesity.

The grants are part of a program called Coordinated School Health, which must be implemented in all school districts statewide this school year.

Schools use the money to educate students, staff and parents about eating healthy and getting proper exercise.
