A $2.9 million U.S. Department of Health and Human Services grant to the Mid-Cumberland Community Action Agency will provide the second half of federal funding for Rutherford County Head Start programs, U.S. Rep. Bart Gordon announced Thursday.
"Head Start is one of few programs that holistically focuses on preparing at-risk children for school through literacy, social development and health services, such as immunization, dental and nutrition," Gordon said in a news release. "This approach has yielded results which show the program is a good investment.
