Head Start: Ice to Water

The children from Cochranton Head Start visited the Meadville Area Recreation Complex on February 20 as part of a Health & Wellness focus. They were able to ice skate with the help of many volunteers and special walkers to assist them. After lunch, the children changed into swimsuits and dove on into the pool for lots of fun. YWCA Twin Creeks Head Start has implemented "I am Moving, I am Learning" into the classrooms to help children become more active. Head Start also provides monthly nutrition activities that the children participate in to prepare their own healthy breakfast, lunch or snack. Their daily breakfast and lunch is a wonderful time to talk about nutrition and healthy choices. Cochranton Parent Committee is busy planning the end-of-the-year field trip to Roche Park and the end-of-the-year family picnic and treasure hunt. Regina Pastrano, member of the Parent Committee, also recently planned and held a very successful Scholastic Book Fair.

The YWCA Twin Creeks Head Start Centers are taking applications for the 2008/2009 school year. We service the Meadville, Gill Commons, Forest Green, Cochranton and Conneaut Areas. If you would like more information or an application for your child, please call 425-7866 or 724-6530.

Pre K Counts is also accepting applications for next year. If your child will be 4 years old, please call 724-6530. Make Pre K "Count" for your child.
