Students Take Steps To Fight Obesity

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, at 30 percent West Virginia has one of the highest obesity rates in the country.

Now, some students are taking a stand against the disease.

Passing out pedometers to fellow students encouraging them to keep a log tracking their steps.

And launching a health-awareness campaign.

"Our goal was pretty much to spread awareness to people," said fellow 8th-grader Tess Culpepper, "To just show them how they could be eating, how much they could be exercising, to count their steps and try to increase them...we wanted to just spread awareness."
