BCBS, YMCA Partner to Combat Obesity Among Washington, D.C., Youth

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is partnering with CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (BCBS) to bolster childhood obesity prevention efforts for District of Columbia youth, the Washington Business Journal reports. BCBS awarded the YMCA $1 million to expand the organization's five-year-old Physical, Health, Driven (PHD) program, to improve the fitness levels of children enrolled in child-care and camp programs, as well as in schools that offer limited physical education opportunities.
