Hamilton County's Step ONE initiative announced new allies in an effort to create a healthier community. Spokesperson Mike Dunne says that Hamilton County Mayor Claude Ramsey has reminded people to Eat Smart and Just Move It over the past two years. Today in the effort to combat childhood obesity Step ONE introduced "The Step ONE Kids." These animated characters are designed to promote improved nutrition and increased activity amongst Hamilton County's children.
Chattanooga-Hamilton County Health Department Administrator Becky Barnes says, "This is a super summer where people are lining up to see super characters. The Iron Man movie is a multi-million dollar hit and with an Incredible Hulk and new Batman film on the way, we thought we had a super opportunity to catch children's attention. That's why we created a pair of super partners, our Step ONE Kids, to encourage children to practice better nutritional habits and engage in more physical activity."
