Teknik Digital Arts, Inc. (OTCBB: TKNK) announced today the launch of the physically interactive video game league THEXRGAMES.COM. THEXRGAMES.COM is a non-profit approved extracurricular activity for all 2 million K through 12th grade students in Arizona. The league exclusively uses the Teknik Digital Arts, Inc. proprietary video game league technology, which measures the player's physical activity and calories expended to earn "Burn Points." The league includes all game play on the Nintendo(R) Wii(TM) and Wii Fit(TM), Microsoft's Xbox(TM) and Xbox 360(TM), Sony(R) Playstations(TM) 2 & 3 and PC games.
John Ward, Teknik's chairman, stated, "We now have an opportunity to take America's current pastime, video gaming, to fight America's number one current health epidemic, childhood obesity. The statistics from the CDC are well known. 2 out of every 3 children are either considered obese or overweight. Video game sales have increased 31% over the last year alone during a recession. 72% of the population between the ages of 6 to 44 play video games."
