As part of the expanding conversation about childhood obesity in the U.S., XM Radio will broadcast dedicated programming exploring the causes, impact and possible solutions to end the growing epidemic that affects as many as one in three children in the U.S., according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The week of special programming begins Monday, June 9, on XM's talk and lifestyle channel "Take Five" (XM 155) and the exclusive "Oprah & Friends" channel (XM 156).
Programming highlights include: -- "Good Morning America Radio" (weekdays, 8am-12noon ET on XM 155) will feature interviews with author and journalist Abbey Ellin, whose book Teenage Waistland chronicles her own adolescent struggles with food and weight, as well as special reports about the health risks and possible strategies to combat childhood obesity from Oprah & Friends hosts Dr. Mehmet Oz and Bob Greene, plus regular GMA Radio contributors Ann Pleshette Murphy and Andrea Smith.
