South Dakota Launches Obesity Prevention Program for Day Care Facilities

South Dakota Gov. Mike Rounds (R) announced Thursday that the state will use a $150,000 grant from Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield of South Dakota to educate day care providers about nutrition and wellness, the Associated Press reports. The program will target more than 200 day care facilities, focusing first on individuals who can train other staff. Participants will learn how to encourage children to be physically active and to follow a healthy diet.
