The Governor's Office of Children's Care Coordination has designated Oct. 13–17 as Child Health Week. To tie in with this campaign the city and the county will host two special events at two popular parks to promote the many healthy and active recreational opportunities this area has to offer on Friday.

Parents are encouraged to bring their children to the parks and participate in a day of play, recreation, and learning about healthy lifestyle choices.

"Childhood obesity is a growing problem in Hamilton County and we are proud to support the Governor's efforts in bringing awareness to our residents on this issue. We encourage people of all ages to get out and enjoy our beautiful parks as a family," said Hamilton County Mayor Claude Ramsey.

Mayor Ron Littlefield also endorses the importance of providing public spaces and city wide opportunities that promote active and healthy lifestyles and said, "We are committed to providing recreational and health focused opportunities for all ages and abilities and want to make everyone more aware what the city has to offer."
