USDA Creates Food Pyramid for Preschool-Aged Children

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has unveiled a new Web site designed to help parents and caregivers meet the nutritional needs of children between ages 2 and 5, HealthDay News reports. Developed by the USDA's Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion, the MyPyramid for Preschoolers Web site provides nutrition guidance consistent with current scientific research and the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. The Web site features a series of topic areas, including guidance on how to develop healthy eating habits in children and plan appropriate meals and snacks for preschoolers.
