Alhambra, Pasadena Schools Earn $1,000 for Fighting Childhood Obesity

Two local schools received top honors from the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness & Sports on Tuesday for their efforts to keep their students in shape.

The council, a nonprofit, non-partisan organization dedicated to promoting physical activity, awarded $1,000 each to Fremont Elementary School in Alhambra and Daniel Webster Elementary School in Pasadena for their participation in the Governor's Challenge Competition.

The competition called on students to be physically active at least 30 minutes a day, three days a week, for at least four weeks.
