Arizona Schools Receive Funding to Participate in USDA Program

Last year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) provided Arizona with roughly $960,000 in grants that helped 25 schools in the state participate in the agency's fresh fruits and vegetables program, the Arizona Republic reports. The grants have helped school districts fund the purchase of fresh fruits and vegetables, which they are encouraged to purchase from local growers wherever possible. In an expansion of the program, the state will have $1.45 million to distribute for the upcoming school year.
