Annual Summer Fitness Challenge Gets Kids Moving

Snohomish County, Wash., is planning to launch its sixth annual Get Movin' summer challenge, which encourages participants to be physically active throughout the summer, the Everett Herald reports. More than 6,000 children and adults have participated in the free, county-sponsored program since its 2004 inception. In its inaugural year, Get Movin' challenged 600 participants to exercise for 30 minutes, three times per week. But in the second year Get Movin' raised the bar to 30 minutes of physical activity five days per week, where it remains now.
